Policy
- 1. This forum is not affiliated or connected with any other forum concerning atheism or any others with similar aims.
2. All matters concerning its governance and management will be transparent at all times.
3. The direction of this forum will be decided by its members and not the administrators.
4. It is the intention of the forum founders to make it self running, democratic and the ‘property’ of its members. Major decisions concerning forum policy, direction and ‘rules’ will be decided using the following process:- ...a. A vote will take place
- ...b. 60% of forum the membership will be required to vote in order to make the vote valid.
- ...c. A 70% majority will be required to confirm a decision of this nature.
- ...d. Only those with a membership of at least 14 days will be eligible to vote.
6. The Forum will support freedom of expression and free speech in all its forms. We will respect the legal limitations of this as required. We will also be robust in dealing with personal attacks, provocation and language designed to deliberately hurt a member or members.
7. Any personal criticism or attack based on race, sexual preference or gender will be robustly challenged. Equality will be promoted.
8. We hope to provide a place for atheists and rational people with a variety of views and outlooks to meet, discuss issues which concern them and have fun doing so.
9. We will encourage creativity, experimentation and above all dialogue.
10. We will promote and support atheism as a view of the universe that makes sense to us.
11. In line with point 2, moderation will always be performed at the minimum possible level and the lightest touch. It is assumed that the members of the forum will in the spirit of the forum’s principles moderate themselves. Exceptions:- a. Where issues becomes complex or unresolved moderators will intervene, but always respectfully and with the minimum level of authority
- b. It is assumed that people will post messages which are at times offensive to some other members. This is perfectly acceptable as long as the post is a matter of opinion and not a personal attack. Where these bounds are exceeded Mods may intervene.
- c. Harassment of individuals, personal abuse will be matters which will result in Mod intervention, but only where the issue concerned cannot be resolved by the individuals concerned.
- d. Anonymous complaints will be discouraged.
13. The moderation role will be primarily an administrative one. Housekeeping and technical support will be its primary focus.
